Responsibility for maintaining our streets is shared by multiple City departments. For instance, the Bureau of Street Services maintains the roadway surface, while Department of Transportation is responsible for lane striping, traffic signals and parking meters, and the Bureau of Street Lighting -- you guessed it -- handles street lights. In most cases, the City addresses the need for maintenance when it receives a service request from a resident or stakeholder. The easiest way to report issues is by calling 311, using the MyLA311 smartphone app, or at myla311.lacity.org.
Additionally, each Great Street will receive proactive street maintenance work thanks to additional resources that have been secured in the City’s budget. Starting in the fall of 2015, a dedicated crew at the Bureau of Street Services has been making proactive repairs to sidewalks, curbs, gutters, tree wells, potholes and various other street needs.
