Connect the Dots was a two-day series of community design workshops held in the Van Nuys Civic Center Plaza. A collaboration between the Arid Lands Institute, Pacoima Beautiful, and the LA County Bicycle Coalition, Connect the Dots engaged the community on issues related to stormwater recapture, groundwater replenishment, and climate resilience. The event focused on how to make S Van Nuys Boulevard safer for pedestrians and bicyclist while also incorporating best practices for water infiltration on streets, sidewalks, medians, and adjacent spaces. Event organizers invited participants to learn more about underground water systems using interactive displays and public art. As a part of Connect the Dots, community members, bicyclists, and designers shared their visions for the future of their public spaces.
