Tracking Our Progress towards greatness

The goal of benchmarking each of the first 15 Great Streets is to measure and document neighborhood conditions as they exist before any Great Streets projects are built.

We're striving for a holistic snapshot of conditions along the Great Streets, so we’re looking
at a broad spectrum of data ranging from economics; to safety; to opinions
of merchants, residents, and visitors. We may have even spoken with you!

This report represents the City's first effort to comprehensively evaluate how streets and neighborhoods change when the City invests in improvements.

Generally, we’re looking at data from 2013-2014 — a two-year window leading up
to the start of Great Streets project construction — although this time period varies
for some data sets.

We will repeat this analysis again after Great Streets projects are built so we have an even, “apples to apples” comparison of how conditions have changed over time. This comparison will help us to better understand how our city is growing and better serve all Angelenos based on what we learn.
